If you are looking for something quick and easy that shall please the majority give this a try and you shan’t be disappointed. Umm Ali is a middle eastern sweet dish, originating in Egypt. Umm Ali translates as ‘Mother of Ali’.
Ingredients:
1 | Milk | 1 Liter |
2 | Tai Khara* | 500 grams |
3 | Cardamon | 3 or 4 |
4 | Dairy Cream | 200 grams |
5 | Sugar | 1 Cup |
6 | Coconut powder (optional) | 1 tsp |
7 | Dry fruits (optional) | as per preference |
Instructions:
- Add the milk, cream, and cardamon seeds (remove the green covering) in a saucepan and set it on medium heat, until it boils.
- Before turning off the heat, add the sugar and give it a stir.
- You can add optional ingredients along if you like.
- Meanwhile in an oven safe dish crush the tai khara and spread it evenly.
- Add the boiled milk mixture to the dish.
- Bake the dish in a pre-heated oven at 280°F for 10 minutes.
- Remove the dish and bring it to room temperature.
- Chill it in the refrigerator and serve.
*Tai Khara or Khara biscuit can be found in almost all local bakeries around Pakistan. It is like Bakarkhani.
